Search By Smell With New Google Nose

Google Nose Beta

Google’s new product, Google Nose Beta, allows you to search by smell, “seamlessly connecting scent to search.” Amazingly, it works on most laptops and cell phones already. The Google website notes that the Google Aromabase now has more than fifteen million scentibytes of data. You can even test it out right now on your computer by going to this Google website and pressing “smell.” What will they think of next?

Well they have thought of something else cool already. Check out Google Maps Treasure Mode, where you can use Google to find lost treasure:

And did you know that the YouTube contest is ending and YouTube will be shutting down?

Have a happy April 1!

    Happy Opening Day!

May you baseball fans enjoy this day where every team is in first place starting on a clean slate. I’m talkin’ baseball!

The above classic baseball song is Terry Cashman‘s “Willie, Mickey, and the Duke (Talkin’ Baseball).” Cashman, a producer and singer-songwriter who once played minor league baseball, was inspired to write the song after receiving a picture of Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, and Duke Snider. The original “Talkin’ Baseball” tribute to 1950s baseball came out during a baseball strike year in 1981, reminding fans why they still loved baseball.

According to Wikipedia and ESPN, Cashman has made versions of the song for most, but not all, baseball teams. But even those teams without their own version of “Talkin’ Baseball” can dream on this opening day.

Bonus Opening Day Trivia Question: When and where was the first interleague opening day game in Major League Baseball history? Answer: It was April 1, 2013, caused by the recent realignment moving one team to a different league.

Do You Remember the 1990s? Microsoft Does.

Microsoft released a new ad to try to make Internet Explorer cool again with those Firefox, Chrome, and Safari fans. While they may not accomplish that goal, the ad does a pretty decent job of remembering the 1990s. Check it out if you are in the mood for memories and nostalgia.

Why the World Won’t End Today

    mayan

NASA put together a video debunking the theory that the ancient Mayans predicted the world would end this Friday, December 21, 2012. NASA designed the explanation to be viewed on December 22, but just in case, Chimesfreedom is making it available today.

Don Yeomans, head of NASA’s Near-Earth Object program at the Pasadena, California Jet Propulsion Laboratory explains that the Mayans merely predicted the end of a cycle. But, as R.E.M. showed, “It’s the End of A Cycle” would not be as exciting as talking about the end of the world.

What did you do to prepare for the end of the world? Leave your two cents in the comments.
